The Best Brunch Spots in Milan

While a plane ticket to New York City used to be a mandatory requirement to enjoy a Sunday brunch, the American tradition has now become a Milanese institution and a beloved weekend ritual. For the past few years, the city has been blooming with restaurants and coffee shops offering brunch options with the popular avocado toasts, classic scrambled eggs and fluffy pancakes. A delicious – and mostly healthy – weekend treat for anyone in need of good food, good mood and good company.

HYGGE, Via Giuseppe Sapeto 3

One of our favorite and many-time approved brunch place in the center of Milan. Hygge translates to the Danish word for coziness and this is exactly how you will feel when you will walk in! The hipster atmosphere, friendly service and luminous space make the coffee-shop the perfect place for a casual-yet-elevated brunch location.

The restaurant offers two brunch options: a “classic” and a “vegan” one – both equally delicious, although we have a slight preference for the vegan menu. Food is always curated and imaginative and comes on somewhat industrial-looking tray which just adds to the coolness of the place.

We love: the homemade Nordic-inspired pastries and the heavenly Hasselback potatoes

For whom? Anyone looking for a not-so-ordinary menu and who does not mind eating from a metallic tray (maybe not your Grandma’s style).

L’OV, Via Vincenzo Monti 47 / Viale Premuda 14/ Via Solari 34

L’OV was one of the first places on the Milanese Brunch scene and its many locations around the city are the reflection of its popularity. The restaurants all have an open kitchen, large windows an overall Milan-meet-New York vibe. Think fashionable sage green walls, black & white tile and classic café chairs and tables. The menu? Classic with an Italian twist: Pancakes, French toasts, Eggs Benedicts and Club Sandwich but also Pasta alla Carbonara or al pomodoro.

We love: the local and organic eggs and the many vegetarian friendly options.

For whom? Families and big groups will appreciate the many food options and the warm and welcoming spaces.

FUORI MANO, Via Roberto Cozzi 3

If you are into off-the-beaten-paths kind of places, then this is the place for you! The building resembles what could be a mix between a traditional “cascina” and an industrial glass conservatory. The plus? The cute outdoor space where you’ll be able to enjoy your food – or one of their signature cocktails – in the warmer months. You will have the choice between 5 different menus ranging from the classic American brunch with bacon, eggs and pancakes to the vegetarian alternative with hummus and carrot cake and even a gluten-free option to accommodate everybody’s diets.

We love: the wide range of alternatives, the (very) copious amount of food and the absolutely stunning location

For whom? All the design enthusiasts who will love the high ceiling and the mix-and-match of furniture and those for whom brunching without a well-balanced drink isn’t an option.

AVO BROTHERS, CORSO XXII MARZO 25/ VIA LUIGI PORRO LAMBERTENGHI, 17

As the name suggests: here the Avocado is king (keep your eyes peeled as you will find many scattered around the restaurant). The place is a Millennial dream: the very Instagram-friendly bowls, colorful burgers and iced cappuccinos are served in a curated space full of pastel tones, gold fixtures and velvety textures.

Avo Brothers truly is one of a kind in Milan and one of the first offering “Beyond Meat” and “This isn’t Chicken” burgers: try it to believe it! And no need to wait for the weekend, the restaurant serves Brunch items all week long!

We love: the sweet potato fries that are to die for (especially paired with their spicy vegan mayo) and the wide range of plant-based milks!

For whom? The social media fanatics who will have plenty opportunities for some extremely instagramable content (even the bathroom is cute)!
